I’m so honored you’re here and I’m looking forward to working with you.
My life has been full of music since I was a small child; it’s a love that hasn’t gone away and I’m grateful for the experiences and opportunities I’ve had. But at times, this chosen life has been stressful and perhaps not as joyful as it could have been. We’ve all heard the phrase “When you know better, you do better.” but sometimes knowing isn’t enough to inspire action, even when it is painfully obvious that we need it!
Twenty years ago, when I was an Artist Diploma student at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), I picked up a book called Breath Sweeps Mind: A First Guide To Meditation Practice. I didn’t read it. I really meant to but I didn’t “have time”. I distinctly remember a classmate, who seemed pretty impressed, saying “Oh wow, Marianne! Do you meditate?” and me laughingly saying “Oh I should! I’m working on it.” It took me another 15 years to start meditating and read that book, despite having carried it around in my gig bag for a long time.
The point of that story is this: we start when we are ready. Whether that’s taking simple steps to improve your diet, a slow introduction to meditation, learning to release old fears and toxic competitiveness, forming an exercise plan you’ll stick to, or lifestyle changes within your family. You won’t start until you are ready – and that’s OK.
While I sometimes say that I wish I had known all these things years ago, on some level I did…and I simply wasn’t ready at that stage in my life and career to implement them. Years later, I have embraced many habits that enable me to live healthier and happier. Like you, I’m still a work in progress, learning more about myself every day. Mindful Health & Harmony is the culmination of many years of self-discovery, lots of training (both in music and in health coaching!), and my desire to help others get to their happy point faster than I got to mine.
Thank you for being here and please let me know how I can serve you.
