College Ready: The Six Essential Skills for Success

...because getting in isn't the same as being prepared

College Ready is designed for high school seniors who are preparing for the transition to college and want to feel confident, capable, and ready for real independence. It’s for students who are smart and motivated but may not yet have the habits, decision-making skills, or self-awareness that college will demand.

It’s also for parents who want to support their child without overstepping or staying stuck in “manager mode.” This program helps both students and parents move into the next chapter with clarity, confidence, and a stronger, more respectful relationship.

The first few weeks of college can feel like freedom and chaos at the same time. Students are suddenly responsible for managing their time, keeping up academically, building real friendships, handling stress, and making decisions they’ll feel good about the next day.

And while this is a huge growth opportunity, it’s also where many students struggle.

Parents have invested years of time, energy, and a significant amount of money to get their child to this point. College is too important, and too expensive, to leave this transition to chance.

Preparation Starts Here

This program is built on my Whole Person Coaching Framework and the Six Essential C’s:

  • Connection to Self
  • Connection to Others
  • Communication
  • Competence
  • Consistency
  • Confidence

We focus on real-life skills, habits, and decision-making that students will actually use once they’re on campus. This isn’t about theory or lectures, it’s about helping them think clearly, act intentionally, and follow through when it matters. The goal is simple: give them tools that show up in real moments, not just good intentions.

What Your Student Will Learn

  • Practical tools to help them manage time, responsibilities, and freedom without constant reminders
  • Guidance for building real friendships, not just surface-level connections
  • Skills to handle stress, pressure, and setbacks without shutting down
  • Clear communication approaches for navigating roommates, professors, and peers
  • Decision-making habits that help them make choices they respect the next day
  • Systems for staying consistent, even when life gets busy
  • A shared approach to taking ownership of their life, instead of waiting to be told what to do

Why does the Premier Level Exist?

The Premier Package exists because the real challenges don’t happen before college, they happen once your student is living it. The first 60–90 days bring new freedom, pressure, and decisions without you in the room. Even well-prepared students can feel overwhelmed when routines slip, friendships feel uncertain, or something doesn’t go as planned. This level of support gives them a place to reset, problem-solve, and move forward before small issues grow. It also allows parents to step back with more confidence, knowing their student still has guidance when it matters most.

Not sure which level is right? Need more information?

I’m happy to schedule a complementary 30-minute inquiry call with you to discuss the options.

Meet Marianne

I’m a Board Certified Coach and Family Life Coaching Association Certified Expert, and I’ve spent over 30 years working with kids, teens, and families.

What I’ve learned is that most students don’t need fixing: they need the right skills, habits, and support to step into independence with confidence. And parents need support too, especially during big transitions like this one.

That’s the focus of my work. Helping students build what they’ll actually need when no one’s there to remind, manage, or step in, while also guiding parents on how to step back without losing connection.

Coaching isn’t about fixing problems. It’s about building the skills and confidence they’ll need for the exciting stuff that comes next!

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my student isn't Motivated?

That’s more common than you think. I focus on helping students build ownership and internal motivation so they start taking initiative because they want to, not because they’re being pushed.

What if my student resists this or doesn’t want to participate?

That’s actually a great place to start. I’m used to working with students who are hesitant at first. The goal isn’t to force them, it’s to meet them where they are, build trust quickly, and help them see the value for themselves.

What if my student struggles with anxiety or stress?

This program supports emotional regulation, confidence, and practical coping strategies. It stays within a coaching approach, meaning we focus on tools, habits, and forward movement, not therapy.

Can this be done virtually?

Yes. All sessions can be done via Zoom or FaceTime, and many students actually thrive in that format. In-person is available if you’re local, but both options are equally effective.

What if we’re starting late in the summer?

We can absolutely adjust the schedule. Even a shorter runway can create meaningful progress when we focus on the right skills and priorities.

How involved are parents in the process?

Parent involvement varies by package. Some include structured parent sessions, while others are student-focused. Either way, I’m available along the way if questions come up or guidance is needed.

Is this only for high school seniors?

Not at all. This work is just as valuable for high school juniors who want a head start and college students who are struggling and need a reset. We focus on rebuilding habits, structure, and confidence so they can get back on track.
